Restaurants & Food

Nobody reads your website. They read the map, the photos and the last review

Restaurants, cafés, patisseries, specialty coffee, bakeries, catering. The decision is made in ninety seconds on a phone, usually inside Google Maps, and almost never on your homepage.

What actually goes wrong

The competition is not other restaurant websites, it is the three results in the map pack. A place with worse food and a better-maintained Google Business Profile takes the booking. Photos, hours, menu accuracy and review recency move that ranking more than anything on your own domain.

The second problem is commission. Delivery platforms bring volume and take 15–30% of it, and they own the customer relationship. Every order that could have come direct and did not is margin handed away permanently, because that customer is now the platform's, not yours.

Third, food is the one category where output volume beats production value. A restaurant posting three honest phone videos a week outperforms one posting a quarterly photoshoot, and most kitchens cannot sustain either without a system.

How we work in this sector

  1. Fix the map profile before the website Categories, hours including holidays, menu, attributes, and a photo cadence. This is the highest-return work in the sector and most places never finish it.
  2. Make reviews a process, not an accident A prompt at the right moment, and replies to every review. Review recency and response rate are ranking inputs, not just reputation.
  3. Take the booking directly Reservation and ordering on your own domain, so the repeat customer is yours. The platforms stay as discovery; they stop being the relationship.
  4. Batch the content One shoot produces three weeks of posts. The constraint in a kitchen is time, so we design the system around a single session rather than daily effort.

Every business type in this sector

From a two-table patisserie to a multi-site group, the mechanics are the same: be in the map pack, look worth choosing, and own the repeat order.

Frequently asked questions

Is a website even worth it if everyone books through Google?

Yes, but for a different reason than most people expect. The site is where the booking and the ordering happen without a commission, and it feeds the map profile the structured data it needs. It is infrastructure, not a brochure.

How do we get more reviews without asking awkwardly?

Timing and placement, not pressure. A prompt at the moment of payment or on the receipt converts far better than a follow-up email, and never offer anything in exchange — that violates Google's policy and can get reviews removed.

Can we stop using delivery platforms entirely?

Usually not, and usually you should not want to. They are a discovery channel worth paying for. The goal is that the second order comes direct, which is a retention problem you can actually solve.
